Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals

Last month, I passed the Data Fundamentals Certification exam, which belongs to the fundamentals level. I want to share my experiences and prepare for the following certification exam, and I want to mention valuable resources during the preparation.

Based on my opinion, it is possible to divide preparation between two groups of people. The first group is people who are not part of tech people and do not have knowledge of programming, databases, and general knowledge about technologies. The second group are noobies in the IT world.

I worked as a programmer for several years, and I worked as an AWS Cloud architect for two years. Based on my skills, the preparation for the certification exam was quick. I watched the video at the following link . I did not watch the whole video for sure. I cared about parts that were not clear to me. Of course, I did not watch the video in its entirety, but I only watched the parts that I found interesting and the services that I did not know. The 5-hour video gradually skipped the uninteresting parts into a 30-minute window to improve your knowledge of Azure. By going through this video at half-past eight on Friday, the idea of registering for a certificate occurred to me. Since I worked all Friday, I decided to schedule a certificate for Saturday morning.

Registration for the certificate took place relatively quickly and without any problems. I planned the certificate for Saturday morning. Specifically, it was 5 AM. For someone, morning for someone, deep night. Each participant has 45 minutes for the certificate, and the value of this certificate is 99 USD, but for me as a person from Europe, it was 60 euros, but sleep on the certificate. As soon as I started writing the test, it seemed like a general overview of the IT world. The questions dealing with databases were, for example.

Which statement is an example of Data Manipulation Language (DML)?

A. REVOKE
B. DISABLE
C. INSERT
D. GRANT

And another question:

You have a SQL query that combines customer data and order data. The query includes calculated columns. You need to persist in the SQL query so that other users can use the query. What should you create?
A. An index
B. A view
C. A scalar function
D. A table

Every person moving in IT and who has completed a subject such as databases will answer this question correctly. So, as I said, a general overview. Good advice for someone who has been in the IT world for a long time. The preparation for this certificate does not need to be extended. I am almost sure that every IT person can do it. However, let’s sleep with the questions. There were 49 questions on the test, and I was done after 5 minutes. I will not lie to you; I did not have 100 percent of the test, but only 90 percent. The test contained questions about services that I did not know, I had been preparing for the test for a maximum of an hour, but many of the services indicated the purpose of the creation. For example, Cosmos DB unambiguously defines the same type of database. I like more about Microsoft certificates than Amazon certificates is the immediate result. As soon as you finish the certificate, you see the PASS / FAIL and percentages. For Amazon certificates, you only see PASS / FAIL.

As for the second group of people, foreign people who are not from IT. My friend, who does not work in the IT world and studied pharmacy, proceeded. She found a course created by Scott Duffy, which also lasts 5 hours. This course is divided into logical units and is one of the best-rated courses for DP-900: Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals. After 8 hours of notes and trying new things on the Azure Platform, the friend successfully passed the certification. I will not lie to you, and she gained 92 percent of him, which is more than me. Of course, I will give her this success, and I look forward to successfully passing the certificate.

However, let’s summarise. No course is needed for people moving around the world of IT. Just go through the official documentation, find out which sections I will be in the test, and am 100 percent sure that each person will master the certificate. People who are new to IT as a friend should take a course from Scott Duffy. Make notes and plan the course as soon as possible. There is nothing that you would have to spend more than two days or your weekend.
