You Need Valuable Followers to Earn Money
Medium is a massive page with a tremendous amount of writers. At the beginning of my Medium journey, I needed followers. If I can be specific, I needed 100 followers. I am sure that readers of the article see articles with the name “Need 100 followers” or see hashtags such as #followforfollow, #follow4follow or #followforfollowback. In the beginning, it can be seen as a good idea, but after reaching that amount of followers, you should stop using that approach.
I want to say that many people during the time give you unfollow, but the unfollow is suitable to you because these users are not valuable followers. Why? On the Medium page, you can have valuable followers and meaningless. Meaningless followers follow you but do not read any of your articles. Yes, that followers helped you jump through 100 followers edge, but that’s all on their part. They do not read your articles, do not increase your earnings. They are like a dead body in the ocean.
Valuable followers are the best followers for you. These followers read your articles, have the same passion, comment on your essay, interested in your ideas. So, what kind of followers do you want, hmm? I add three ways to receive followers, but you have to decide which followers you want.
Follow for Follow Approach(I do not recommend).
I used this approach like many writers because I did not have an audience. I think it is almost like cheating the Medium. This method is excellent for gaining followers and increasing the base, but you will indeed receive meaningless followers. 5 or 10 followers can be valuable, which is fantastic, but most are entirely useless for you. I read the article in which one woman published around 1000 articles and had not been able to earn more than 100$. Let’s guess, what kind of followers does she have? After you receive 100, my advice is to stop using this approach because it is way to hell. You will never earn money from that followers, and you will be disappointed with your statistics.
The Group Approach (Great one).
I like Medium and its community. My college professor has a great quote.
You are five handshakes to get to know any celebrity.
It means that you know someone, who knows someone, and so one and maybe the fifth one is Cristiano Ronaldo(CR7). The best player in football history. Is it not amazing? Back to the second approach. This approach is based on writing articles. When you write an essay, anyone can read it. On Medium, there is a community with a vast followers base, and when they like your articles, they can ask you for, and you can receive the reading on your articles. Is it not spectacular? Even you have 500 followers. You can receive followers of the group which has 600k followers. I have personally taken Medium seriously for around one month, and I have already received two invitations. Let’s see.
The Curate Approach(Best on)
Current is the approach that you really should be hunting. Honestly, it is not in your hands, but if you receive an opportunity to publish, you are the lucky one. Every single story posted on Medium is a review by a curator who can say: Wow, this story is fantastic, or they can say it is awful. If they say it is impressive, they are going to accurately it in the topic. Congratulate, you are fortunate if you achieve this kind of “promotion”. Topics and publishing are not the same. You can see topics on the Medium page. The most important is that the curator can distribute your articles into several topics, and each topic has a massive amount of followers. I am so lucky, and during my first month, my articles have been promoted to the Productivity topic.
